Meet the doctor
Viet Lam, DDS
Dr. Lam is a first-generation Vietnamese American born in Indonesia. His parents escaped Vietnam during the late 1980s, seeking a better life for their family in America. They settled in Houston, Texas, where Dr. Lam has built his career and life.
Outside of his professional life, Dr. Lam enjoys exploring diverse culinary offerings around the world and is an adventurous eater who delights in trying new and unique dishes. He loves traveling with his wife, having visited 15 countries together. Dr. Lam is an aviation enthusiast and an avid plane spotter who enjoys observing and learning about aircraft. He is an active bodybuilder and an avid collector of college football helmets. Dr. Lam is fluent in English and Vietnamese, with conversational skills in Spanish.
Experience
After dental school, Dr. Lam pursued advanced training through two esteemed surgical internships in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans and the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston.
Dr. Lam’s commitment to excellence is underscored by his recognition as a Fellow by the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, highlighting his adherence to the highest standards in education, training, surgical skill, and ethics. He is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Prosthodontics, reflecting his dedication to continuous learning and advocacy in dental implantology. Recently, he achieved a significant milestone by earning a Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD), a prestigious distinction awarded to only 6% of general dentists in the U.S. and Canada. Additionally, Dr. Lam has co-authored several journal articles on restorative dentistry and oral and maxillofacial surgery. He has also served as an Implant Regional Doctor Mentor for Heartland Dental.
